Second baseman Placido Polanco went yard and had 2 RBI and Randy Johnson
racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts as the Mississippi Big Orange
topped the Antioch Coal Miners in 11 innings by a score of 6 to 4 at Seals
Stadium.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings.  Mississippi ended up
winning it in the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Brandon Inge keyed
the rally when he tripled.  Polanco was next and he doubled knocking in a
run.  Bill Mueller then banged out a single.  Alfonso Soriano was up next and
he would ground out scoring the final run of the inning.  Mississippi
finished with 14 hits while Antioch ended up with 4.  

The win went to Eric Gagne(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Francisco Rodriguez(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.  He pitched 1
and 1/3 innings and surrendered 4 hits and no walks.
