Third baseman Eric Chavez smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Minnesota

Marvels defeated the Italian Stallions by the score of 14 to 13 at The BIG

MAC.

Chavez was in a groove all day. The Italian fans hated to see him approaching

the batter's box. He doubled in the 1st inning, cracked a two-run shot in

the 4th inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 2nd of the

season) in the 8th inning. Italian was not lacking for run support as they

scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to

forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.

The victory went to Ugueth Urbina(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no

runs. Urbina got help from Kiko Calero who earned his 1st save. The losing

pitcher was Bronson Arroyo(0-1) in relief. He allowed Minnesota 3 runs in 2

and 1/3 innings of work.
